Can Drive A Big Success
The seventh annual KOGT/Granger Chevrolet Can Drive was another huge success thanks to the many people, businesses, schools and organizations who braved the weather Thursday morning. 15,000 pounds of non-perishable food were brought by car, bus, pick up, box truck, and a deuce and a half military vehicle. $1400 was also raised. James Delano Herrington, 83 passed away peacefully after a short illness. He was born Dec. 8, 1932 in Baytown, TX. James "Delano" graduated from Moselle High School in Mississippi. He worked for and retired from E. I. DuPont in Orange, TX. He was extremely proud of his service to his country in the U.S. Army and Army reserve. He served during the Korean Conflict from 1953-1961. He was a member of the local post of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW). He also was a member and had served as Commander of the American Legion in Sulphur, Post 0179. Assault Puts Woman In Jail
On December 8, 2016, at 5:34 am, Orange PD Officers were dispatched to FM 1006 and E. Roundbunch in reference to an assault victim. Officers arrived and located Mr. Michell with a cut to his left forearm. Officers were told the assault occurred at 1601 Georgia St. in Orange. Mr. Michell was transported by ambulance to St. Elizabeth Hospital for treatment and was last reported in stable condition. At approximately 9:45am on December 7, 2016, Officers of the West Orange and Orange Police Departments located a green Mercedes Benz car travelling along FM 105 in Orange that was believed to have been stolen from a hotel earlier in the day in the Orange. Upon stopping this vehicle on a traffic stop, Officers discovered that the driver of this Mercedes was reported to be an escaped inmate from Calcasieu Parish Louisiana named Jonathon Alexander.
