Bridge City Middle School Band was represented brilliantly by the middle school band members this weekend as they competed in the Region 10 All-Region Band Auditions. Thirty-one students who were chosen as members or alternates to the All-Region Band. This is the highest honor that a middle school band student can attain. Santa Visits Heritage House
Santa Claus and his collection of mechanical toys return to the Heritage House Museum Wednesday and Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. Santa is now on the third generation of some children he's seen at the restored 1902 house. Heritage House is a middle class home that was saved from demolition and moved to 905 W. Division Avenue in downtown Orange. LCM Interact Speaks At Rotary
The Little Cypress-Mauriceville High School Interact officers and sponsors were invited to be the guest speakers for the Orange Rotary meeting on Tuesday, December 6, at Sunset Grove Country Club. The officers informed the Rotary Club of the service projects that have been done this year. Christmas Crime
The wooden elf is back at work decorating Burton Avenue, but Orange police are still looking for a crook that knocked over a Christmas tree and stole toys and children's clothes from an apartment. The holiday spirit took a hit Friday in two separate incidents. The first was reported at 7:30 in the morning at the Sabine Park apartments, 111 West Pine Avenue. Christmas Time Arrives In West Orange
Christmas officially arrived in West Orange Monday night with the annual lighting of the Christmas Tree at the West Orange Community Center. Alderman Carl Thibodeaux read the "Cajun Night Before Christmas" before Mayor Roy McDonald flipped the switch to light the tree. The Calvary Baptist Carolers led by Pastor David Milner sang Christmas carols. Other carolers were Pete and Sandy Amy, Billy and Beverly Frederick, and Lauren, Jordyn and Everlee Struwe. Maxine The Owl Passes Away
Maxine the Barred Owl at Shangri La has died. She had been rescued at a young age after being entangled in a barbed wire fence, an accident that caused her to lose a wing. After being healed, she was adopted and became a popular attraction for thousands of school children for more than a decade through Shangri La. She made appearances at schools and Shangri La. Big Red States Best Mascot
Bridge City senior Alexis Bertrand is in her second year as the Cardinal "Big Red" mascot and her hard work paid off this weekend in Frisco. Bertrand swept the mascot awards, including the top mascot in all divisions 1A-6A. She was also named an National Cheerleading Association All-American mascot, and Best All-Around. For the second year in a row the Little Cypress-Mauriceville Lady Bears under Coach Linda Riddick reached the post season. Making it three in a row is going to be tougher for the Lady Bears because of graduation. A week after missing the first game of his NFL career, Earl Thomas will miss the rest of the season after breaking his leg after a collision with teammate Kam Chancellor when it looked like he was about to intercept a pass.
