The Orange Fire Department extinguished a fire in the attic of the Blue Bird Fish Camp Monday morning. The call came in about 4:00 AM of the fire at the business located off of Simmons Drive. The fire was contained to one end of the attic. There was some smoke and water damage to the second floor rooms of the building. Fire Marshal John Bilbo is investigating the cause of the fire. Reed Named Freshman All-American
For the second consecutive season, Louisiana Tech has garnered national recognition on the offensive line with Ethan Reed being selected to the 2016 USA TODAY Sports Freshman All-America team, it was announced by the publication Sunday. Reed becomes just the fourth Bulldog in the 114-year history of the program to net All-America honors as a freshman, while he is the second offensive lineman in as many years to garner the award after O’Shea Dugas was named to 247sports.com’s Freshman All-America Team in 2015. Lady Bears Finish Second
The LCM Lady Bears placed 2nd in the Anahuac Gator Classic this past weekend. The Lady Bears defeated Clear Lake Christian 55-43. Jacie Miller scored 17, Chelsea Perry added 13 pts and Genesis Barclay scored 10 and pulled down 16 rebounds. They then went on to defeat Anahuac 42-34. Jacie Miller scored 22 and had 12 rebounds. The Lady Bears fell in the finals to East Chambers 46-40. Jacie Miller led again with 13 pts., Alyssa McKellar added 11 pts and 10 rebounds. Clark Exiting Stage Left
Jim Clark has spent his adult life and much of his youth involved working with theaters and productions. When he retires in April, he knows what he’ll do—sit through a full production. The stars were out Friday night when the West Orange-Stark Mustangs defeated the Navarro Panthers in the 4A D2 Semifinal game at NRG Stadium. But the brightest stars were Kentavious "KJ" Miller (left) who returned a punt 70 yards for a score and had another one taken away from him with a penalty.
