The City Council in Bridge City approved Tuesday extending water and sewer service to a couple’s residence in the extraterritorial jurisdiction of the city. Gary and Sandra Staton on Quail Drive made the request for city services. City Manager Jerry Jones indicates Bridge City is working to accommodate the Staton’s request. Mike Lund with the Bridge City Water Department has discussed the request with Mr. Staton and determined Bridge City will need to bore on one side of the Staton’s residence. Thompson Dishes On Opponent
For the third season in a row the West Orange-Stark Mustangs will be playing in the semi-finals of the state playoffs. Coach Cornel Thompson indicates the knee injury to starting linebacker Cory Skinner was just a bruise, and he will be available for this week’s game. The other linebacker position is looking good too as Justin Brown actually played 20 snaps last week and will be ready for Friday’s semi-final contest too. Commissioners Meet Tuesday
The Commissioners Court discussed the recent appeal of the Montano v Orange County lawsuit for over an hour Tuesday afternoon with Assistant County Attorney Doug Manning in a closed session. Joining the discussion was special co-counsel David Gaultney who was hired by Orange County to assist Manning in the appeal to the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. County Judge Brint Carlton commented on the prospects facing Orange County following the appeal. Carlton indicated he had read the appellate ruling and said it did not look good for the county.
