Silsbee 27 LCM 14
The LCM Bears looked like they had recovered from a bad start when they took a 14-6 lead in the first half after Evan Worster completed a 53 yd. TD pass to Khaydon Reed. But the turnovers continued as the Tigers took a 20-14 lead at the half and finished with a 13 point win to go 2-0. LCM (0-2) turned the ball over six times (3 fumbles, 3 interceptions) and several penalties killed big plays including a touchdown. The Tigers outgained the Bears 267-254 in total offense. Tucker Floyd had a good game defensively for the Bears with 12 solo tackles. LCM welcomes Iowa, La. (2-0) for Homecoming on Friday.
Bridge City 50 Kirbyville 0
The Cardinals shutout the Wildcats and have outscored their first two opponents 104-6. Another efficient game for QB Hutch Bearden, going 11-15 for 188 yds. and a TD pass to Hunter Ford. He also rushed for 91 and two scores. Ashton Sumrall rushed for three TD’s. The defense only allowed Kirbyville (1-1) 85 total yds. The Cards host Orangefield on Friday.
Orangefield 29 New Waverly 21
The Orangefield Bobcat got Coach Jeff Breaux his first win as a head coach. Nick Rogers got the scoring started with a 9 yard touchdown reception from Carson Gonzalez. New Waverly would tie the score at 7 before Mason Manning would break loose on a 57 yard touchdown run to put the Bobcats up 14-7. Gonzales would add a 1 yard touchdown run on a quarterback sneak. NW would cut into the lead, but Manning would cap off the scoring with a 7 yard TD run and a 2 point conversion. Manning finished with 29 carries for 188 yards with two touchdowns and a 2 pointer. The defense was lead by Carson Worthy. He finished the night with 10 tackles, 2 for a loss. Ty Butler had a big night on special teams converting all extra points and having several touchbacks on kickoff. OF travels to BC Friday.
Deweyville 48 Cushing 13
The Pirates (2-0) were led offensively by Elijah Milton who had 96 yards on 6 carries and 2 TD’s, along with a reception for 42 yards and a score. Hayden Collins had 80 yards on 9 carries and 1 TD. and Gunner Evans had 43 yards on 7 carries and 1 TD as the rolled up 361 yds. Lane Burke anchored the defense that only allowed the Bearcats 13 points after scoring 55 in Week One. Pirates hit the road for the first time Friday, traveling to Hardin (2-0) for a 7PM kickoff. The Hornets beat Corrigan-Camden 26-6.
Vidor 28 Santa Fe 14
The Vidor Pirates evened their record to 1-1 with a win over a 5AD2 school in their home opener. They jumped out to a 14-0 lead as they scored a TD in each quarter. Vidor travels to (1-1) Hamshire-Fannett Friday.
