Three children and a bus driver escaped injury Tuesday morning when the back driver’s side wheels came off a Little Cypress-Mauriceville school bus.
District Spokeswoman Sherry Combs said the driver was able to steer the bus to the side of the road and stop safely. The three students were picked up by another school bus and completed their route.
Combs said one set of lug nuts is used for the double tires on the bus. The lug nuts came off, leading to the wheels to come off.
The bus was towed to be repaired and the district is investigating the incident.
