Joint Public Notice – Sabine Pass to Galveston Bay, Texas Coastal Storm Risk Management and Ecosystem Restoration, Orange County Project.
U.S. Army Corps of Engineers – Galveston District is having a public meeting to discuss the 2026 Draft Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement for the Sabine Pass to Galveston Bay (S2G) – Orange County Project.
A public meeting will be held on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., at the Bridge City Community Center, 105 Parkside Dr, Bridge City, TX 77611.
The main features authorized for the Orange County element include:
- Approximately 20 miles of new earthen levees
- Approximately 3 miles of new concrete floodwalls
- Approximately 150-200 gravity drainage structures and 14-16 new pump stations, providing interior drainage for areas behind the levee/floodwall
- Approximately 40 closure structures located at road and railroad crossings
- Two navigable sector gates, with adjacent vertical lift gates, at Adams and Cow Bayous
- Restoration of coastal marsh and preservation of wetlands, as mitigation for the ecosystem values lost due to the construction and operation of the project
