Republic Services will continue to be the garbage collector in the city of Pinehurst for another three years. The Pinehurst City Council approved the three year contract Tuesday evening with Republic at no increase in price for residential and commercial customers. Bill Voigtman with Republic said the company will pick up the garbage once a week and each residence will be given a 93-gallon container on wheels to put their garbage. Pinehurst Police Qualify
Officers with the Pinehurst Police Department qualified in weapons training this month at the Chief John Tarver Training Center on FM 1442 in Orange County. Pinehurst Police Chief Fred Hanauer said he and seven of his officers all qualified in the use of their primary weapons which are .40-caliber Glock 22 or 23 semi-automatic pistols as well as with their secondary weapons which are 12-gauge pump shotguns and AR-15 rifles. Natalie was born on February 13, 1930 in New Iberia, Louisiana to parents Martha (Dugas) and Felix Sheridan Fridley. Twenty years ago, Joe Will built his house with the expansive porch and log-covered exterior. His wife, Sue, filled the porch with rocking chairs for family and friends to relax. These days, Will can’t go up the four steps to the porch. He has what's commonly known as Lou Gehrig's disease, or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). It's a degenerative nerve disease. Public Defenders for capital cases gave a presentation to the Commissioners Court during a workshop Tuesday afternoon. The 8-year old agency provides qualified defense attorneys for defendants in capital murder cases. The service does come at a cost to the county. Jack Stoffregen with the Public Defenders said the premium to Orange County would be $22,532 a year to insure the county would be covered by their services if there was a death penalty capital murder case in the county.
