Lenis T. Hall, 88, of West Orange, died November 30, 2016. Mr. Hall was born in Lindale, Texas on December 8, 1927. He was a son of Clinton Paul and Charline (Tiner) Hall. He was a U.S. Navy veteran having served during WW II. Mr. Hall was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Melba Hall; daughter, Sandra Kay Hall Granger; and brothers, Billy B. Hall and James C. On Wednesday, November 30, 2016 about 4:31p.m., Officers of the Vidor Police Department were dispatched to 210 Triangle, Vidor, Orange County, Texas in reference to a Disturbance. Information being received was a white female was being held at the residence against her will. A second phone call was received stating a female was at the residence claiming she was being raped. Retired Orange police captain Cliff Hargrave has been named as the captain in charge of investigations at the Orange County Sheriff's Office. Sheriff Keith Merritt promoted Hargrave to the position which has been vacant since the death of Tom Ray. Hargrave started his career with the sheriff's office nearly 30 years ago. He then worked for the Orange Police Department for 25 years. He retired in January after serving as the captain of detectives for the department. Sterling, Kolander Lead Cards in 16-17
In his first season at Bridge City last year the Cardinals made the post season finishing a strong third place in district for Coach Larry Sterling. Once again Bridge City should be a team competing for the district title and definitely in contention for a spot in the playoffs. County Unveils New Nativity Scene
A new nativity scene is now on display at the Orange County Courthouse. The figures for the nativity scene arrived the week of Thanksgiving. Supervisor Kurt Guidry and the county’s Maintenance Department erected it Wednesday morning with a manger they constructed themselves. The new figures were approved by the Commissioners Court in early November at a cost not to exceed $8,000 to replace a nativity scene that was over 20-years old with several broken pieces. Three Armed Robberies Being Investigated
Orange police are investigating three armed robberies that happened within 28 hours. Detectives believe the man who robbed a postal carrier Monday evening may have held up a barbershop Tuesday afternoon. Detective Captain Robert Enmon said the barber at Peanut's Hair Shop, 1406 10th Street, was injured after the robber hit him in the head with a pistol. The stick-up was reported at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday. The robber, whose face was covered with a bandana, stole cash and items from the store. Warren Agrees To 45 years In Prison
A 42-year-old man inside a drug house where a home invasion shoot-out occurred two years ago pleaded guilty Wednesday to being engaged in organized crime. Desrick V. Warren of Orange agreed to the punishment of 45 years in prison. The home invasion happened at 9 p.m. Friday December 12, 2014, at 3733 Ridgemont Drive.
