Pearl Myers Burgess, 96, went to be with her heavenly Father on May 31, 2017.   Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, June 4, 2017, at McDonald Memorial Baptist Church with Pastor Tommy Anthony officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Orange.   Visitation will be prior to the service beginning at 2:00 p.m.   Pearl was born on October 27, 1920 in Orange, Texas to parents Oscar Olivia (Poole) and Henry Carl Myers. Annette Marie Willey Lormand, 87 years old, entered her heavenly home Sunday June 4, 2017.   She was a native of Jasper County Texas and lived most of her life in Nederland Texas and Orange. She was a resident of Cypress Glen Nursing home in Groves, Texas and Compassion Hospice at the time of her death.    She was the daughter of Frank J and Serena Willey, born Jan 20, 1930. Natatorium Open

The City of Orange Natatorium will open for the season Thursday morning at 6 for adult swim. The public pool will charge $2 a day for residents of Orange and $4 a day for non-residents. Operating hours will begin from 6 to 8 a.m. for adult swim on Mondays through Fridays. Open Swim will be Tuesdays through Fridays from  3 to 5:30 p.m. and 5:30 to 8 p.m. on weekends. Youth 17 and under must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Family Swim times are from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays and from 1 to 5 p.m. on weekends. Ramon Settling In As New Supervisor

The Texas Travel Information Center in Orange held its 8th Annual Orange Means Safety event June 2. Manuel Ramon took over as supervisor of the information center about seven months ago and this was his first safety day at the center. Ramon grew up in West Orange and graduated from Orangefield High School. He served four years of active duty with the United States Air Force including two tours overseas before serving in the active reserves and getting his college degree from Lamar University. Court Holds Budget Workshop

  The first budget workshop for the coming fiscal year was held Thursday morning. The Commissioners Court heard requests by department heads and discussed past, present, and future budget needs for those departments. County Judge Brint Carlton summarized this initial round of budget requests as productive after meeting with representatives from the Mosquito Control District, the Texas AgriLife Office, and the Road and Bridge Department. Skimmer Found On Gas Pump

Employees at a convenience store on FM 1130 found an illegal credit card skimmer on a pump Wednesday and called Orange police. Officer T.P. Pruitt reported the pumps had been checked on Tuesday evening. When they were checked about 4 p.m. Wednesday, an employee discovered Pump 7 appeared to have been tampered. He got the key and opened the pump, he discovered an electronic device that steals credit card information had been installed. Officer Pruitt confiscated the device and detectives are investigating.
