Gerald “Jerry” LeRoy Krudop, II, better known as “Paw Paw” by his grandchildren, was born June 2, 1960, in Burlingame, California. He lived there until age 10, when he and his mother moved to Southeast Texas, and settled in Bridge City. He would spend the next 30 years there, building a life and many lasting friendships.
Jerry started out working at Gulf States Utilities before transitioning full-time into residential and commercial development. His strongest legacy was Regal Pointe, an upscale housing development and Regal Plaza, a mid-size commercial strip center, both in Bridge City. In 2000, Jerry moved to Houston, where he shifted his focus entirely to the mortgage industry. He later worked as a finance manager at DeMontrond Auto Group, where he finished out his career.
Faith was central to who Jerry was. He was a committed Christian and that faith carried him through difficult years, including strokes in 2013 and 2023. He passed away September 19, following another stroke. Those who knew him say the steadiness he showed through those health struggles said as much about him as anything else in his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edna Johnston and Gerald LeRoy Krudop and his brother, Randy Krudop.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Sandra Krudop; son, Justin Krudop and Justin’s wife, Christina Mascaro; daughter, Kristin Russell and her husband, Mark Russell and grandchildren, Blaire and Major Russell, whom he loved spending time with. He is also survived by his sisters, Stefanie Cannon (Johnston) and Diana Kaschinske (Krudop), along with their families and a wider circle of extended family and friends who will miss him.
A celebration of Jerry’s life will be held to remember him, his faith, his tenacity and the people he loved at First Assembly of God Bridge City, from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM, on October 3.
