
Elizabeth “Betty” Person was born December 12, 1931, and passed away April 18, 2026, at the age of 94.
She had a deep love for gardening, spending countless hours tending to her flowers and plants, finding peace and beauty in every bloom. Her talent as a seamstress was evident in the many garments and keepsakes she lovingly crafted for family and friends, each stitch a reflection of her care.
Betty also found great happiness in the simple pleasures of life. She was an avid reader who could often be found with a good book in hand, always eager to learn and explore new stories. She enjoyed playing bingo, where her laughter and friendly spirit made her a favorite among fellow players.
Above all, Betty had a remarkable gift for bringing joy to others. She loved to laugh and had an infectious sense of humor that could brighten any room. Her kindness, wit, and gentle heart will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her children, Jeanne Benoit and husband Matt, Janet Barrios and husband Mark, and Jerry Person and wife Sheila; 10 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; most special, Maggie Mae Fisher, and Maryann Martinez; niece, Kathy Ramkee; daughter-in-law, Donna Person; and numerous extended family, and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Virgil Person; son, Jon Person; grandson, Cory Gerard Benoit; father, Henry Schierholz; mother, Eleanor Weber; and siblings, Marie Kludt, Delbert Schierholz, Edward Schierholz, and Bill Schierholz.
Family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. with a reciting of Rosary at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, April 25, 2026, at Dorman – Riley Smith and Sons Funeral Home, 8808 Highway 87 North Orange, Texas. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 25, 2026, at Dorman – Riley Smith and Sons Funeral Home, 8808 Highway 87 Orange, Texas. Interment to follow at The Cemetery, Mauriceville, Texas.
Pallbearers are Matt Benoit, Mark Barrios, Derek Barrios, Justin Person, Jay Ramirez, and Rudy Pachua.
