On Sunday, April 19, at approximately 10:18 a.m., Orange Police Department officers responded to the 8300 block of Highway 87 North for a report of an unresponsive female found face down in a roadside ditch that was full of water after Saturday’s rain. Responding officers located a 46-year-old white female on the west side of the roadway and identified her by driver’s license.
The woman was seen leaving Cotton Cay’s club. A person who was inside the bar believed she was leaving after calling someone to pick her up.
Investigators from the Orange Police Department and the Orange County Sheriff’s Office conducted interviews and a scene investigation. While the cause of death remains pending, investigators do not suspect foul play at this time. Precinct 1 Justice of the Peace H. Stagner has ordered an autopsy.
This incident is under investigation by the Orange Police Department Criminal Investigation Division. The victim’s name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
