Chris Donald Kolb, 59, of Fairmount, Texas., formerly of Nederland, Texas. passed away on Sunday, July 26, 2026. Chris was born in Nederland, Texas on November 17, 1966 to Donald Gene Kolb and Beverley Kolb Paulus.
Chris was a 1985 graduate of Little Cypress Mauriceville High School. After graduating, Chris went on to serve his country with honor in the United States Navy. He worked for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice for 10 years as a Correctional Officer serving at both the Garza Unit in Beeville, Texas and the Larry Gist State Jail in Beaumont, Texas.
Chris possessed a musical talent that was very impressive. He enjoyed singing and could play just about any instrument by ear. He used his talent to serve the Lord for many years while singing with the Clouds of Glory Gospel Group. Having the ability to sound exactly like Elvis Presley, he also entered and won many singing competitions throughout the years. When he wasn’t singing, he enjoyed spending time fishing both salt water and fresh water at Sabine Lake, Toledo Bend Lake or anywhere he could find to wet a hook. He always had a way of catching fish when those around him couldn’t even get a nibble. His love and passion for fishing is something he passed on to his son, Joshua Kolb who has taken this passion to the next level by creating his own fishing channel on social media.
Chris is survived by his wife of 39 years, Joy Kolb; his sons, Joshua Kolb and his wife, Sabrina and Cameron Kolb; daughter, Krystal Kolb; grandchildren, Gracelynn Kolb, Samuel Kolb, Skylar Kolb and Elijah Kolb; brother, Jay Kolb and his wife, Michelle Kolb; step-father, Ceyril Paulus; mother-in-law, Donna Miles; nephew, Kody Kolb and his wife, Jaci; niece, Kelsi Kolb and her fiance’, Dalton Glover; and a host of other extended family and friends.
