On Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at approximately 5:30 p.m., officers with the City of Orange Police Department were dispatched to the Alcoholics Anonymous Building in the 1000 block of Western Avenue in reference to an unresponsive male.
Officers and emergency medical personnel arrived at the scene and determined the individual, identified as John Derby, 38, of Orange, was deceased. Judge Jenkins ordered that an autopsy be conducted to determine the official cause and manner of death. At this time, there are no indications or signs of foul play. The investigation remains ongoing pending the results of the autopsy.
