Marvin Ray Gonzales, a beloved father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 22, 2026, in Vidor, Texas, at the age of 91. He was born on November 18, 1934, in Bryan, Texas, to Fred and Ruby Gonzales.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 26, 2026, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Orange.
Visitation will begin prior to the service at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, September 26, 2026, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
Marvin had a deep love for life and found joy in many simple pleasures. He was often found listening to music, cooking delicious meals outdoors, and embracing the beauty of nature. He cherished his time riding the open road and enjoyed the camaraderie of friends over a cold beer. A talented musician, Marvin loved to play the guitar, sharing his passion with those around him. Above all, he loved his family deeply and was known for his wonderful cooking, which brought warmth and comfort to many gatherings. His legacy of love, music, and delicious food will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his devoted wife, Gwen Gonzales; his children, Baressa Lynn Gonzales and Howard Wayne Gonzales; his parents, Fred and Ruby Gonzales; and his brothers, Fred Gonzales Jr., Earnest Gonzales, Glen David, and Lawrence Gonzales.
Marvin’s memory will be cherished by his loving daughters, Ruby Jean Young, Dena Denise Barthol and her husband David, and Brandy Denise Thompson and her husband James; bonus daughter, Naomi Perduo; and his sons, Marvin Eugene Gonzales and Donald Owen Gonzales and his wife Latisha; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-six great grandchildren; nine great great grandchildren; his sister Lorene; and numerous other loving family and friends.
