
A woman who grew up in Orange is in jail after authorities say she stole more than $100K from a mans bank account while he was in jail.
The Louisiana man reported to the Beauregard Parish Sheriff’s Office in February that a substantial amount of money was missing from his account after he had been incarcerated for two years.
The victim said no one had access to his account. During the investigation it was discovered that a number of checks were written out to two women who the man said he didn’t know.
Newton County Sheriff Colton Havard said he was conducting a routine traffic stop last week near the intersection of Highway 87 and FM 1004 near Trout Creek when he discovered that the driver of the vehicle was wanted in Louisiana.
Jasmine Carly McFarlane, 41, was taken into custody and transported to the Newton County Jail where she now faces 11 counts of Felony Forgery and 1 count of Felony theft over $25,000.
As of this post the other woman has reported to be still at large.
