Firefighters responded to a reported structure fire in a 2100 block of Honeysuckle just after 5 PM Monday.
According to Orange County ESD 3 Fire Chief Matt Manshack, when they arrived, they found a trailer heavily engulfed with flames coming from the structure. There was one occupant in the yard that had escaped the fire.
Firefighters quickly attacked the fire and protected a nearby trailer. One victim was transported by Acadian Ambulance to a hospital for minor burns. The home is a total loss and the fire is under investigation. Preliminary investigation revealed that the homeowner had been smoking with oxygen. The Red Cross was called in for assistance for two adults and several animals.
Mutual aid was provided by Orange FD, OCESD 4 and South Newton County ESD1.
