In loving memory of Leonard Hock, a cherished brother, uncle, and friend, who passed away peacefully in his sleep on June 26, 2026, at the age of 85. Born on November 27, 1940, in Vidor, Texas, Leonard was a beloved member of his community and family, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and kindness.
Leonard was the beloved son of the late R.V. James Hock and Lillian Beatrice Holden Hock. Preceded in death by his devoted parents, Leonard is survived by his dear brother, Leroy James Hock and his wife, Billie Ann, as well as his loving sister, Carolyn Sue Manley and her husband, Roy. Leonard’s family was the cornerstone of his life, and he adored his nieces and nephews: Debbie Britt, Kathy Billingsley, Kimberly Domingue, James Hock, Bobby Reider, Jr., and Michael Manley. His affection and pride also extended to his numerous great nieces and nephews, great great nieces and nephews, and three-times great nieces and nephews, who will all miss him dearly.
A proud graduate of Vidor High School in 1959, Leonard was a man of many talents and passions. His love for animals, particularly his cherished cats, was well-known to all who knew him. Leonard possessed a green thumb and took great joy in gardening, often sharing the bounty of his produce with family and friends. His enthusiasm for Longhorns football was infectious, and he never missed a chance to cheer on his favorite team.
Leonard was a gifted craftsman, finding satisfaction in building and repairing things with his hands. However, it was his role as a storyteller and family historian that truly defined him. With his quick wit and infectious laugh, Leonard had a unique ability to bring people together, sharing tales of the past over cups of coffee and hearty conversation. His nieces and nephews, whom he loved as though they were his own children, will fondly remember the warmth and wisdom he imparted through his stories. He served his country with the US Army during the Vietnam Conflict during the years of 1965 through 1968. He was also a Senior Supervisor for the City of Orange for 34 years from 1965 to 1999.
Leonard’s life will be celebrated on July 1, 2026, at 9:00 AM at the Memorial Funeral Home, located at 1750 Hwy 12, Vidor, Texas. Family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by Leonard are invited to join in remembering a life well-lived, filled with love, laughter, and a profound sense of family.
As we gather to honor Leonard’s memory, we take comfort in knowing that he is reunited with his parents, resting in eternal peace. His spirit will forever be a guiding light for those who knew and loved him, and his stories will continue to echo in our hearts.
Rest in peace, dear Leonard. You will be dearly missed, but your legacy will live on through the love and laughter you shared so generously with us all.
