
On Monday, June 29, 2026, investigators with the Orange Police Department, assisted by the West Orange Police Department, conducted a traffic stop on a 2008 Honda Accord in the 3100 block of 16th Street for multiple traffic violations.
During the stop, investigators detected the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle and observed a handgun in plain view. A probable cause search of the car led to the seizure of approximately 27.7 grams of suspected methamphetamine, 5.6 grams of marijuana, and two loaded handguns. One of the firearms had been reported stolen in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
The driver, 26-year-old Erick Dewayne Johnson of Denham Springs, Louisiana, was arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon.
The passenger, 21-year-old Erika Vasquez of Denham Springs, Louisiana, was arrested and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance (Penalty Group 1, more than 4 grams but less than 200 grams) and Theft of a Firearm. According to investigators, Vasquez admitted ownership of the suspected methamphetamine and acknowledged she knew one of the recovered firearms had been stolen.
