Sandra Josephine Hofford, born on February 26, 1952, in Orange, Texas at Francis Ann Lutcher Hospital, passed away on April 28, 2026 leaving behind a legacy of warmth, kindness, and enduring love for her family and friends. She was the cherished daughter of Bonita Blanda Reid and the beloved granddaughter of Josephine and John Blanda, whose values and devotion shaped the life she lived so beautifully.
Sandra was a devoted wife to her husband, Evertt Arnold Hofford, and found great joy in the simple, meaningful moments of life shared together. In a reflection of their deep bond and affection, Evertt lovingly called her by special nicknames such as “Lulu” and “Junior,” small but meaningful expressions of the love they shared.
She remained closely connected to her extended family, holding dear her many cousins, the late John Romano, Tom Romano, Mary Romano Trocino, Joey Romano, Joy Romano Miller, Cathy Blanda Britain, John Blanda, Michael Blanda, Paula Jean Russian Lovoi, and along with many other cousins whom she loved deeply.
Sandra’s godchild, Amy Lynn Lovoi, held a truly special place in her heart. From the very moment Sandra first held Amy in the hospital on the day Amy was born, a unique and unbreakable bond was formed. Sandra cherished every moment of their relationship, always being the first to call and wish Amy a happy birthday, and her face would light up with a radiant smile whenever she saw her. Their connection was nurtured through frequent phone calls, each one ending with the same tender words: “I love you, my dear god child,” a simple phrase that carried a lifetime of love and devotion.
A proud graduate of St. Mary’s, Sandra continued to give back to her community as a teacher’s aide, where she touched the lives of many students with her gentle spirit and caring heart. She was an active member of the LaDonna Club and remained rooted in her faith through her church community, Oak Grove Tabernacle.
Sandra had a vibrant personality and a love for life that was evident in all she did. She enjoyed tap dancing, a passion that reflected her joyful energy and expressive nature, and she especially loved playing bingo, a pastime that brought her both excitement and fellowship. She also loved traveling, especially taking cruises and visiting relatives in Louisiana and Arkansas where she created lasting memories with those she held dear.
One of Sandra’s greatest joys was spending time with loved ones, often staying connected through frequent phone calls, always checking in and offering her warmth. She delighted in dining out at her favorite local spots, Spanky’s, Robert’s, Dairy Queen, and Rick’s, where she enjoyed both good food and even better company.
Sandra will be remembered for her loving heart, her dedication to family, and her unwavering connection to those around her. Her life was a testament to the importance of relationships, kindness, and staying close to the people who matter most. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished by all who knew and loved her.
Family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m., at Dorman-Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 8808 Highway 87 North, Orange, Texas. REv. Stephen Hudnall will be officiating. Interment to follow at St. Mary Cemetery, Orange, Texas.
