Leothus Jones was born October 29, 1933 in Labeau, Louisiana to Luvenia Fontenot Jones and Julius Jones.
Raised in the area, he was educated in a small wooden, 3 room schoolhouse 9 miles west of Labeau in Lemoyen, Louisiana.
Leothus came to Orange more than 70 years ago. He met and married Lucy Richard. They have been married some 62 years.
They lived and fulfilled their contract, “until death do us part”.
Brother Jones served his country thru the U.S. Air Force and was “Discharged with Honors”.
Employed by the E.I. DuPont Sabine River Works Plant, he retired after 30 years of service.
Following the path, the Master set before him, Leothus Jones was ordained to “Preach God’s Word”.
At Mount Olive The Reverend Jones sang in the Male Chorus, taught the Men’s Class in Sunday School and was also a Vacation Bible School Teacher.
His summons from life to life eternal came Friday, June 7, 2019 in the peacefulness of the home he shared with as he would say “the love of his life”.
Forever cherishing his memory are his wife Lucy, 2 brothers, Julius Jones of Bakersfield, CA and Paul Jones of San Antonio, TX, 2 sisters, Geraldine Moore and Velma Jones, both of Orange, and a host of other relatives, friends and church members.
