Ray Lawrence Jr. was born March 6, 1956, and passed away July 2, 2026, at the age of 70.
He was a man who loved deeply and cared wholeheartedly for those around him. While he could come across as rough on the outside, anyone who truly knew him understood that beneath that tough exterior was a heart of gold. He was generous, always willing to lend a helping hand, and his greatest joy came from spending time with the family he loved so much.
He loved talking on the phone for hours, never running out of stories, jokes, or conversations. After stopping for donuts for the dogs, most mornings you could find him on his brother’s, Roy, front porch, talking and drinking a Dr. Pepper. He was a simple man and enjoyed a simple way of life.
Some of his happiest moments were spent out on the water with a fishing pole in hand, enjoying the peace that only nature could provide. His loyal dog, Buster, was a constant and unconditional love.
He leaves behind his grieving family and friends, leaving us with so many memories. We will have our own personal stories and memories that will make us laugh and cry and remind us of how much he meant to each of us and to our lives.
To fill the emptiness of losing him, he leaves us with the undeniable gift of love.
He is survived by his grandson, Hunter; and siblings, Joyce Newman and husband Jim, Roy Lawrence and wife Vicky, Betty Lingo and husband Rick, Janie Fontenot and husband Jerry, and Terry Lawrence; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
He is preceded in death by his daughter, Regina Lawrence; father, Ray Lawrence, Sr.; mother, Mary Lawrence; siblings, Mike Lawrence, Tommy Lawrence, and John Lawrence; and sister-in-law, Debra Lawrence.
Family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 2:00 p.m., Monday, July 6, 2026, at Dorman – Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 8808 Highway 87 North, Orange, Texas. Rev. Paul Coleman will be officiating.
