A great series between Vidor and Huffman came to an end Saturday with the Falcons winning Game Three 2-0 at Deer Park High School.
The two teams and two starting pitchers battled for four innings without scoring. The Pirates (20-10) had the first shot in the bottom of the first when Kolt Holden was waved home from second on a single to the outfield by Brooks Burns. But Holden was tagged out at the plate. That’s the only time either team got a runner past second base until the top of the fifth.

Two walks and then a double by Braydon Wisener plated two runs. Vidor would get a shot in the bottom of the seventh as they put two on. But pitcher Ryder Miller got the last two out for the complete game shutout.
Burns had two hits and Holden and Jett Brucia had the other two. Blake Safer pitched 4.2, giving up two earned runs with 5K’s and 4 walks. Law pitched a shutout for the final 2.1 with 4 strikeouts and 4 walks.
Pirates head coach Jeremy Gray, “This was a great series and I’m proud of my guys for being so resilient. Really all year long. We’ve got four sophomores out there and we battled. They had one timely hit and we just couldn’t come up with one today.”
Eight seniors put on the Pirate uniform for the last time. “These seniors have been awesome leaders. We always tell our seniors leave the program better than you found it and these guys did that. I’m proud of all of them.”
Huffman will play Gatesville in the third round.
