Wednesday afternoon a pilot truck and tractor trailer rig carrying this brand new 160 ton crane on a flatbed trailer from Houston to Florida decided to stop at the Pilot Truck Stop on Hwy. 62 to readjust the crane on the trailer. After taking the crane off, the boom began to swing, causing the crane to lean and blow a tire. The pilot truck was next to the crane and it crushed the top of the truck and shattered the windows. No one was inside and no one was injured. Mustangs Sweep WRS Awards
Jack Dallas and Steven Tims of West Orange-Stark were named Offensive and Defensive winners of the Willie Ray Smith Award Wednesday night in Beaumont. Sponsored by the Beaumont Founders Lions Club since 1992, the award honors the top players on both sides of the ball during the football season. Dallas, a junior, threw for more than 3000 yards and 44 TD's while leading the Mustangs (15-1) to the 4A D2 State Title. Orange’s EDC Meet Consultants
The city of Orange needs a plan to know what success looks like, a consultant Wednesday told the city's Economic Development Corporation Board of Directors. The meeting was a workshop to exchange ideas. Last year the city's economic development corporation hired the consultation company of Griffith, Moseley and Johnson of Port Arthur to help grow the city's industrial, retail and commercial base. WO-S Elementary students enjoy successful math auction, community support West Orange – Stark Elementary third, fourth, and fifth grade students enjoyed a “Pay Day” math auction at the end of January. The students used incentive funds earned and banked in math classes to bid on and purchase items such as skateboards, board games, books, digital cameras, restaurant gift cards, play dough, Lego sets, a bicycle, and more.
