Two people were injured Wednesday morning when a Ford F-250 pickup truck ran into the back of a garbage truck on Texla Road in Mauriceville. DPS Trooper Stephanie Davis said the driver of the pickup, 23-year-old Alexander Burnett was taken by ambulance to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont. He was being treated for head and neck injuries. The driver of the garbage truck was 44-year-old Robert LaFleur of Beaumont. He had minor injuries and was taken by private vehicle to a hospital. Leutloff Located And Arrested
At approximately 12:00pm, Jason Michael Leutloff was arrested near the Econo Lodge on 11th Street by Beaumont Police Officers. At this time, Leutloff has been transported to the Orange County Jail facility. Leutloff will be booked into the jail on the two outstanding felony failure to stop and render aid arrest warrants that were issued earlier this week. Vidor Loop Planning
The Commissioners Court Tuesday gave approval to proceed with pre-project development of the proposed Loop 299 in Vidor. In a split vote with only Commissioner David Dubose casting a dissenting vote the Court will authorize Scott Young of Strategic Planning and Program Development Inc. to start the discussions with the Texas Department of Transportation to continue the planning for what has been called the Vidor Loop. Truck Flip and Burglary
A pickup truck flipped over on FM 105 in Orangefield early Monday morning during a rainstorm. Orange police report the 31-year-old driver was not hurt. Police said a Toyota Tacoma was traveling westbound near a curve in the 12000 block of FM 105 when he lost control of the truck. The pickup veered sideways and hit an "Orange City Limits" sign. The truck then rolled over onto the roof. The police report said the driver, Lakenedrick Bevil of Orange, was given a ticket for driving at an unsafe speed for the conditions. CASA Candlelight Vigil
C.A.S.A. (Court Appointed Child Advocates) would like to invite all of Orange County to the Candlelight Vigil on April 25, 2016 at 7:15 p.m. to raise awareness about Child Abuse and neglect. They will have a local choir singing. Boy Scouts of America will be there. C.A.S.A. will read the Proclamation for Child Abuse Awareness which was passed in Commissioners’ Court. Sylvia Marie Bishop, of Orange, passed away on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at her home surrounded by her family, at the age of 72. Sylvia was born on December 24, 1943 in Lake Jackson, Texas to parents Esther Henrietta (Rodenbeck) and Bill McDonald Walker. She had lived in the Orange area for 65 years, and was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church. She spent her time raising her children with love and care; helping them become the loving families they are a part of today. Dupont Drive Re-Opened
Orange Police opened DuPont Drive to traffic at noon Tuesday following an early morning accident that took out two power poles. At about 5:00 am a tan 2006 Ford Focus, left the roadway in the 1100 block of DuPont Drive. The car collided with a telephone poll, breaking it, and causing the charged power lines to fall onto the roadway. The falling wires, in turn, pulled down a second pole. The Aggies are an impressive 32-11 but have had trouble in the SEC where they are 6-9. Sophomore catcher Taylor Fraccastoro (LCM) has been a team leader all season for the SFA Lumberjacks.
