The Commissioners Court approved a resolution Tuesday opposing the disturbing of the Bessie Heights Marsh area of Orange County. Barges have been using the marsh as a fleeting area which could have an environmental impact. County Judge Brint Carlton said the resolution recognizes the environmental and economic impact of the Bessie Heights Marsh area in the county. Owners of five properties in West Orange have 30 days to get them up to code or the structures will be demolished. The West Orange City Council voted unanimously Monday to have them demolished if the property owners do not make significant improvements to the structures. Orange Council Meets At 9am
The Orange City Council on Tuesday will consider allowing Stan Floyd, owner of American Airboats on Lutcher Drive, to develop and alligator farm, RV park and tourist cabins in the future. City Planning Director Kelvin Knauf in a memo said the city created a Mixed Use Zoning District for the properties north of Interstate 10 at Simmons Drive back in 1999. However, the city never set a development plan for the land. Woman Arrested For Assault With Scissors
Orange police arrested a woman Saturday afternoon for aggravated assault after a man was stabbed with a pair of scissors at a house in the 1000 block of Fourth Street. The man did not have life-threatening injuries. Patrol Officer L.A. Lovelace reported he went to the house about 4:50 p.m. Saturday and saw a man “bleeding excessively from his right arm.” The man also had a wound in his right side of his chest.
