The Texas AgriLife Extension Office is sponsoring a youth workshop this week at the Orange County Convention and Expo Center. Extension Agent Fallon Foster described the Summer Youth Cooking Camp as offering a wonderful opportunity for children to learn hands on how to prepare and cook meals. Foster added those attending will be taught kitchen skills, menu development, nutrition, and just cooking. Orange County Health Inspector James Scales was also participating with the Youth Cooking Camp to help the kids learn proper sanitation when cooking. A junior from Little Cypress Mauriceville, Landon Alford was selected as an outside linebacker to attend the Blue-Grey National All-American Super Combine at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas in June 2016. Landon recently attended a Blue-Grey Combine in April 2016, where he was able to demonstrate his strengths and his ability on the field to the fullest. Accident Slows Westbound Traffic
At approximately 2:45p.m. Saturday, the Texas Department of Public Safety received a report of a one vehicle crash on Interstate 10 near Adams Bayou in Orange County. A 2003 Freightliner truck tractor semi-trailer towing an oversized load was traveling westbound on Interstate 10. The coupling device on the vehicle snapped causing the trailer to become dislodged. Watch out for colorful traffic in Orange and Bridge City Sunday morning. Hundreds of custom hot rods will be traveling though as part of Hot Rod Magazine's Power Tour, an annual event for car enthusiasts The tour begins in Baton Rouge and will end in Kansas City on June 17.
