Police Looking For Car Thief

West Orange Police are looking for a white Acura with temporary tags in connection with a car burglary at Walmart Sunday afternoon. Assistant Chief Jesse Romero said the victim, Kevin Buchanan, jumped on the hood of the Acura and busted out the windshield in an effort to stop them. He suffered cuts to his right arm and hand and had to go to the hospital to have stitches. Romero said another person followed the white Acura on Interstate 10 westbound all the way to Rose City but could not get close enough to get a license plate number. Orange Police Reports

A Little Cypress teenager was injured Friday night after her SUV hit a feral hog on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive in the vicinity of the First Church of the Nazarene. Orange police said a 200 to 250 pound hog ran across the road in the 5000 block. After the Honda HR-V hit the hog, it veered off the roadway into a ditch. The collision was about 9:30 Friday night. Police report 18-year-old Cierra Lanee Cezar suffered non-incapacitating injuries. James “Jimmy” Johnson, 84, of Orange, Texas, passed away on August 28, 2016, in Orange. Born in Ava, Missouri, Jimmy was the son of Horace Eugene Johnson, Sr. and Delpha Margaret (Barnes) Johnson. He spent time fixing bicycles for the Blue Santa at Christmas, where they referred to him as “The Bicycle Man”. He was a member of a rescue squad that helped stranded boaters and missing people. Disaster Recovery Group Coming To Area

Orange, TX. – The South East Texas Disaster Recovery Group (SETDRG) has requested the services of a national disaster recovery group to determine who in the community will not be able to rebuild and recover without assistance. A team of World Renew volunteers will conduct one-on-one interviews with flood survivors from September 12 to 23, 2016. This process will help to prioritize individual needs and connect survivors with the SETDRG which can provide long-term support during recovery with individual case management.
