The Deweyville Pirates took it on the chin in their opening game of district last week against the Groveton Indians. Things do not get any easier this week for the Pirates when they play the Lovelady Lions. Groveton was the tenth ranked team in the state while Lovelady comes in ranked sixth. The Lions run the Spread on offense. Lee Holsey is a really good quarterback and throws the ball well according to Pirates’ coach Lance Dale. Woman Identified By Police
On Saturday, October 8, 2016 at 10:55 am, officers with the City of Orange Police Department responded to the 2400 blk of S. Lutcher in reference to a body in the ditch. Officers arrived and discovered a white female deceased. The deceased has been identified as 29 year old Gretta Danielle Franks of Iowa, La. The investigation indicates Ms. Franks may have been struck by an unknown vehicle while walking on S. Lutcher during the night of October 7 or the morning of October 8. Orangefield Saving Bus Money
Orangefield ISD has found a way to save the district money and they're getting help from men who are behind bars. The Texas Department of Corrections has a program where they refurbish school buses and Orangefield just got their "trial run" back and Superintendent Dr. Stephen Patterson says he's so impressed it won't be their last.
