City Audits

Friday was the deadline set by both West Orange and Pinehurst for receiving their municipal audits from the accounting firm of Sandersen and Scheffer.  Both cities have paid the company for audits of Fiscal Year 2016, but have not received the audits. Theresa Van Meter the City Secretary in West Orange and Mayor Roy McDonald actually went to Sugarland last week to see the accountants in person.  Since then Van Meter has received some numbers from the accounting firm in emails and those numbers do match her paperwork’s totals, but still no audit has been received at the City Hall in West … [Read more...] about City Audits

Yeavon Sherman Frenzel

Yeavon Sherman Frenzel, 92, of Orange, Texas, passed away on March 30, 2017, in Orange. A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, April 1, 2017, at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Darla Jean Wright, 68, of Orange, Texas, passed away on March 30, 2017, in Beaumont, Texas. A memorial gathering will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 5, 2017, at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City. Born in Orange, Texas, on July 13, 1948, Darla was the daughter of Robert Harvey Wallace and Imogene Marie (Clinton) Wallace. She was very proud of her Native American heritage and loved nature. Four Tornadoes In East Texas

The National Weather Service of Lake Charles has confirmed four tornadoes formed Wednesday afternoon during a severe thunderstorm. One tornado was in Newton County, another in Jasper County and two in Tyler County. All were in the EF 1 ranking on the Enhanced Fujita Scale with winds from 90 to 100 miles per hour. On Thursday, Newton County Judge Paul Price declared his county as a disaster zone after the storm, which carried heavy rain, hail and strong straight winds. Mildred Evelyn Roth, 87, of Bridge City, Texas, and longtime of Seguin, Texas passed away on March 27, 2017.    Born in Magic City, Texas, on May 14, 1929, she was the daughter of Alfred Nealy Yocum and Elzara Thomas Yocum. Mildred moved to Bridge City 3 years ago from Seguin, Texas to be near her daughter and her grandchildren. She was a member of Good Shephard Lutheran Church and travelled the world working as a travel agent for 20 years before retiring. After retiring she got involved with Classic Chili. Truck Catches Fire At LCM

A truck belonging to a student at Little Cypress-Mauriceville caught fire and burned Thursday afternoon around 2pm. OCESD 3 responded and put the fire out.  Preliminary reports are that the truck fire was an electrical fire. Pinehurst Clean Up Is Saturday

2017 Annual Pinehurst Citywide Cleanup April 8, 2017 – 8:00 am-12:00 noon The City of Pinehurst will hold its’ annual citywide cleanup Saturday, April 8, 2017 in the parking lot in front of the old Parker Lumber, 2716 MacArthur Drive. Hours of operation will be between 8:00 am and 12:00 noon. City employees will be on hand to unload large items such as refrigerators, washing machines, furniture and tree limbs and brush. Accident In Front Of School Wednesday

A 27-year-old man was injured Wednesday morning after the car he was driving crashed into the back of an SUV in front of Little Cypress-Mauriceville High School. Orange police reported Colton Eugene Curtice of Mauriceville was taken by Acadian Ambulance to Baptist Hospital in Beaumont with non-incapacitating injuries. Officer N.R.
