Friday was the deadline set by both West Orange and Pinehurst for receiving their municipal audits from the accounting firm of Sandersen and Scheffer. Both cities have paid the company for audits of Fiscal Year 2016, but have not received the audits. Theresa Van Meter the City Secretary in West Orange and Mayor Roy McDonald actually went to Sugarland last week to see the accountants in person. Four Tornadoes In East Texas
The National Weather Service of Lake Charles has confirmed four tornadoes formed Wednesday afternoon during a severe thunderstorm. One tornado was in Newton County, another in Jasper County and two in Tyler County. All were in the EF 1 ranking on the Enhanced Fujita Scale with winds from 90 to 100 miles per hour. On Thursday, Newton County Judge Paul Price declared his county as a disaster zone after the storm, which carried heavy rain, hail and strong straight winds. A truck belonging to a student at Little Cypress-Mauriceville caught fire and burned Thursday afternoon around 2pm. OCESD 3 responded and put the fire out.
