The Huntington Devilettes staged a dramatic late inning rally to take Game 1 of their best of three series with the Little Cypress-Mauriceville Lady Bears. Huntington scored six runs after two were out in the sixth inning to come from behind and win 9-4 Thursday night in Kirbyville. Fender Bender Thursday On 87
A two vehicle accident Thursday afternoon in front of LCM High School sends one to the hospital. Orange Police say the white pickup truck was pulling out of Medford St while the Pathfinder was pulling out of the LCM parking lot and they hit in the middle of Hwy. 87. The driver of the pickup was taken by Acadian to the hospital after hitting his head on the windshield. The family will be receiving friends from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at Dorman Funeral Home on Saturday, May 13, 2017. Orange Police Reports
Burglars broke into the Akrotex warehouse on Front Street sometime Monday night and stole items. It was the second break-in at the warehouse in three weeks. Orange Detective Captain Robert Enmon said a window was broken for entry. Damage included spraying a fire extinguisher around with a small footprint left in the white powder. A footprint was also found in fire extinguisher powder in the previous break-in. During that time, the warehouse was vandalized with boxes of plastic pellets spilled and forklifts moved around, including one damaged. Accident Slows Traffic Wednesday Afternoon
Around 6pm Wednesday an accident occurred at the intersection of Hwy. 87 and N. Teal. Morgan LeBlanc, 27, of Orange, and two children ages one and six, had yielded to southbound traffic in her white Ford Expedition as she awaited to turn left on Teal. Dalton LeDoux, 17, of Orange, was driving a green Chevrolet pickup northbound and failed to control his speed as he approached the back of LeBlanc's vehicle. The Ed Peveto Memorial crawfish boil fundraiser will be held Saturday May 27, 2017 @ the Jewel Cormier Park off of 1442 in Orangefield, starting at 1:00pm. There will be a silent, Cajun and highest bidder auction. Crawfish, corn, potatoes and links will be provided. NO drinks are provided, so please bring your own. OC Sales Tax Report
Sales tax collections are down across Orange County except for the city of Orange. The Texas Comptroller has sent checks to cities, counties and special districts to cover sales taxes from the month of March. Orange County had an increase for March this year compared to last year, but is down for the year to date. The city of Orange is the only entity with an increase for receipts for the year to date. Pinehurst and West Orange had slight increases for the month compared to last year.
