Civic Club Completes Project
The Orange Lions Club held a ribbon cutting to celebrate the completion of their most recent service project that started in March of this year. Cody Dunaway has Angelman syndrome and was in need of a ramp and flat surface to get to and from his home. The project was completed in a large part by donations made to the project from local businesses, Akrotex, Sabine River Ford, McCoy’s Lumber, Manshack and Son’s, Duhon Homes, Home Depot, Orange County Plumbing, Riken Metal Works, Metal Depot and Texasramps.org. County Prepared For Hurricane Season
Hurricane season is a couple of weeks old and preparations are being taken by state, county, and local officials to be ready in the event of a storm coming to Texas. Orange County is preparing for the tropical season and has a relatively new emergency management coordinator. Open Tournament Begins Thursday
Fishermen have learned that just because you're fishing for bass around here, doesn't mean you'll always catch a bass. (Josh Bensema) Two hundred boats take off Thursday morning at 6am as the Bassmaster Open Central #2 Tournament begins and runs through Saturday. The Orange Boat Ramp is the site for the takeoff and weigh-in as well as a daily festival that includes food, a carnival, and live music. Daily weigh-ins begin at 3pm. Kids2College Program At LSCO
This week, more than 50 tweens and teens took over the Lamar State College – Orange campus for the annual Kids 2 College summer program. The 9 to 14 year olds spent their days learning, creating, and making new friends during a slew of classes, including art, financial literacy, science, Tai Chi, and poetry.
