Michael Earl Kilmer, 60, born September 16, 1961, passed away Friday May 20, 2022, at his residence on Old Spanish Trail in Vidor, Texas.
Mike was a native and longtime resident of Vidor. He graduated from Vidor High School in 1980 where he began his career as a summer worker at Texas Eastern. This turned in to a 13-year career as a heavy equipment operator. After working at Texas Eastern, Mike moved on to Dupont Orange where he was a Supervisor and Plant Manager for 15 years. In addition to his career, Mike was also passionate about umpiring baseball games for a wide variety of age groups and was a member of the Umpire Association for 22 years.
Mike was very active in the Vidor Independent School District community. He spent 11 years, from 2003 to 2014, serving on the Vidor School Board. Mike spent his Friday nights, for many years, filming the Vidor Pirate football games. Mike also served several years as an announcer for the Vidor Pirate Baseball team. Mike was very passionate about volunteering his time to the Vidor High School Athletics department, which played a huge role in helping shape his childhood. He was always known by those around him to lend a helping hand when needed.
Mike is preceded in death by his brother Glen (Buck) Kilmer. He is survived by his sons Derik Kilmer and wife Kaitlyn and Joey Kilmer, parents Bobby and Juanita Kilmer, sister Karen Kilmer, and brothers Bobby Kilmer and wife Sharon, Gary Kilmer, Scott Kilmer and wife Misty, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Mike will be forever remembered in our hearts and will be truly missed by all those who loved him.
Mike’s wishes were to be cremated. There will be a gathering of family and friends on June 13th, 2022, at 12:30pm for all to attend with a memorial service to follow at 1:30PM at First Baptist Church in Vidor. In lieu of flowers, family and friends of Mike Kilmer may provide a donation to First Baptist Church.
