
A Texas man was taken into custody after he allegedly vandalized a number of items in Iowa.
According to KCJJ, 24-year-old Angel Martinez-Garcia of Orange, Texas was seen on security footage from multiple locations in the early hours of May 25th spray painting windows, buildings, street signs, vehicles and other physical property on the 600 block of 1st Avenue in Coralville, Iowa.
Martinez-Garcia was located and reportedly was wearing clothes, shoes, hat and a necklace that were seen in the security footage. He admitted to officers in person and over the phone to defacing specific areas. Martinez-Garcia allegedly described the letters he spray-painted to officers, and said that no one else would use that combination, as it was his “signature.”
Estimated cost to repair the damage Martinez-Garcia reportedly caused was over $3000.
He was jailed and charged with 2nd degree Criminal Mischief. If convicted on the charge, he could face up to five years in prison.
