Mike Gentry, a longtime Orangefield educator who worked his way up from coach to superintendent died Sunday at a Beaumont hospital.
He had been living in Vidor and served as a consultant for the District 24-4A university interscholastic league.
Gentry was first a coach for Orangefield and later became the high school principal. He then worked as assistant superintendent for finance before being named superintendent after Robert Montagne retired.
Funeral arrangements are pending.
