A grand jury returned charges against three people Thursday after a woman was shot and killed in her home south of Lake Charles.
According to KPLC, Investigators said Annette D. Touvell, 65, was watching TV when she was shot in the head on Saturday, March 2. They said Touvell was not the target of the shooters, who they believed had been driving down Sailfish Drive and shooting at random houses.
Several people were arrested in connection to the killing, including three adults.
The grand jury accepted second-degree murder charges against Jordan Lee Jones, 18, of Lake Charles, and Tyler Deshawn Lewis, 25, of Bridge City, Texas. It also accepted an obstruction of justice charge against Chelsea Rae Hyatt, 36, of Sulphur.
Investigators said Hyatt knew her daughter, one of the 17-year-olds arrested in connection with the killing, was involved but failed to report it. Her daughter is accused of stealing the vehicle used during the drive-by shooting from a family member.
The three suspects remain jailed at the Calcasieu Correctional Center. Jones’ bond is set at $1 million, Lewis’ at $1 million and Hyatt’s at $195,000.
