Friday night the Southeast Texas Coaches All-Star Weekend came to a close with the football game at Lumberton HS. The East shutout the West 28-0 as the East defense was solid all night and the offense put it away in the second half.
It was a 7-0 lead at the half after Lumberton’s Chase Williams scored. He would score again in the second half along with his Raider teammate Kale Carr who caught a pass from United QB Race Deshotel. Deshotel would also score in the game while Nederland’s Lance Resch made all four extra points.
Defensively, lead by Defensive MVP Ricky St. Julien of West Orange-Stark, the East kept the West QB running out of the pocket and out of the red zone.
The East were coached by the West Orange-Stark staff after just three days of practice. Local players included St. Julien, Cameron Adams, and Michael Turner of WOS, Jaxon Slone, Elijah Milton and Lane Burke of Deweyville, A.J. Graham of LCM and John Smart of Bridge City, who was named Team MVP.
