Wednesday the Orange County Drainage District along with county officials announced the largest drainage project in the county’s history. The event took place on the site of what will be a 400 acre, 17 foot detention pond with a pump station, aimed to help when major flooding occurs on the west side of Orange County.
Precinct 4 Commissioner Robert Viator said, “Over 30 million dollar project and over 400 acres. This detention pond will have a huge impact on the Tiger Creek areas. From FM2802 to Pine Forest and the west side of Vidor, including Wexford Park and several other areas. It will take a couple years to complete the work. This is huge for the west side of the county.”
