
Donavon James Fontenot, 81, of Bridge City, Texas, passed away on May 26th, 2026. Donavon was born on January 26, 1945, in Port Arthur, Texas to Joseph Deojean Fontenot and Thelma Rita Theriot and was a lifelong resident of the southeast Texas area.
Throughout his life, Donavon had many hobbies and interests. Some of which included boating, fishing, water skiing, and working with his hands. One of his greatest passions was dancing to Cajun music…and he was great at it! He was a master carpenter and built some of the most beautiful cabinetry for clients, family, and friends.
He proudly served in The United States Marine Corp. from 1963 to 1971.
He was a 44-year member of Alcoholics Anonymous and it saved his life. In turn, he helped 100s of people maintain their sobriety thru the program and thru his experiences, saving their lives as well.
He was a loving father/grandfather, and loved spending time with his son and grandson.
He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Deojean Fontenot of Zavalla, and his grandparents Amy and Aldon Theriot of Port Arthur.
Donavon is survived by his son, Jade Fontenot of Houston, his grandson, Jonathon Fontenot of Houston, and his mother Thelma Kiger of Groves.
A celebration of Donavon James Fontenot’s life will take place at: Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home, 4841 39th Street, Port Arthur, Texas 77642 on Saturday, June 6th, 2026. Visitation will be held from 11:00am to 12:30pm. Rosary from 12:30pm to 1:00pm. Service will be at 1:00pm.
