A Jefferson County jury sentenced Jaren Battles, 21, of Orange, to 60 years in prison for the 2023 murder of Geraldo Escamilla.
Battles faced a punishment range of five to 99 years or life in prison. Under his sentence, he will become eligible for parole after serving 30 years.
The 30 year old Escamilla was killed during the early morning hours of March 18, 2023, in the parking lot of DMoney Daiquiris Lounge on Phelan Boulevard. He was riding in a pickup truck that was struck by approximately 27 rounds as the driver attempted to leave the parking lot. Escamilla died inside the vehicle.
