Lamar State College Orange Announces Record Spring 2026 Enrollment
ORANGE, TX – Lamar State College Orange has reached another milestone in institutional growth, recording its largest Spring enrollment in the college’s history with approximately 5,900 students enrolled for Spring 2026.
While colleges across the country often see enrollment decline from the Fall semester to the Spring, LSCO experienced the opposite trend this year continuing its upward momentum and expanding its student population even further after a record-breaking Fall 2025.
Spring 2026 enrollment represents nearly 70 percent growth compared to Spring 2025, reflecting a period of rapid expansion driven by innovative academic programs, strategic partnerships, and increased access to college opportunities for students across the region and beyond.
“This level of growth is a powerful reflection of the momentum happening at Lamar State College Orange,” said Dr. Wendy Elmore, President of Lamar State College Orange. “Students are choosing LSCO because they see opportunity to gain real skills, pursue meaningful careers, and build a strong future. Our faculty and staff continue to create pathways that make college accessible, affordable, and connected to the needs of our communities.”
A significant portion of the enrollment increase can be attributed to expanding dual credit opportunities, allowing high school students to begin earning college credit while still completing their secondary education. These programs provide a head start toward certificates and degrees while introducing students to the expectations of college coursework.
In addition, statewide partnerships with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, Texas Juvenile Justice Department, universities in the Texas State University System, and workforce organizations have created new educational pathways that are helping more students access programs aligned with high-demand careers.
Several academic programs experienced particularly strong growth during the Spring 2026 semester. Programs seeing some of the most significant increases include Teacher Preparation, Medical Assisting, Welding, Cosmetology Operator Management, and Criminal Justice, among others. These programs are designed to connect students directly with workforce opportunities and address critical industry needs across Southeast Texas and the state.
College leaders say the continued growth reflects LSCO’s focus on developing programs that align with both student interests and regional workforce demands.
“Each new student represents a story of opportunity,” Elmore said. “Whether it’s a high school student earning their first college credit, an adult learner returning to school, or someone pursuing a new career pathway, we are proud to be part of their journey.”
With strong enrollment growth continuing across multiple semesters, Lamar State College Orange remains focused on expanding educational access while maintaining the supportive learning environment that has become a hallmark of the institution.
