After a hot day on the water, a heated exchange at the Orange Boat Ramp sent one man to the hospital and another to jail Saturday evening.
Orange Police say two parties were attempting to take their boats out of the water when words were exchanged and that turned into a fight between two men. One of the men was knocked to the ground and when he got up the other then pulled out a knife, cutting the back of his neck.
Samuel Cecil Sanchez III, 34, of Orange, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Brian Gordy, 50, of Orange, was treated at the hospital with what Capt. Jimbo Davis said were non-life threatening injuries.
According to witnesses Sanchez threw the knife in the water after the incident. The Orange Fire Dept. was searching the water for the weapon but were unsuccessful in their first attempt and then it got dark.
