Raymond “Butch” Edward Teal, age 83, of Orange, Texas, passed away on Saturday, January 27, 2024, in Beaumont, Texas. The family will be announcing private memorial services, per Butch’s request.
Butch was born in Orange, Texas on Wednesday, January 8, 1941, to proud parents Raymond and Eula Teal. He joined the Air Force on October 1, 1961, and served in Guam during the Vietnam War as an electrician. After his proud service in the Air Force, Butch married Carroll Reed Booty and was by her side until her death. He was a lifelong resident of Orange, Texas, where he worked and retired from Livingston Shipyard, as a boilermaker. After retirement, in the early 2000s, he happily joined the Orange County Maintenance Department. Butch loved fishing and reeling in the big catfish, hunting, watching the hummingbirds, and putting puzzles together daily with his “puzzle buddy,” Leighia. Butch had a passion for collecting coins and when all else was quiet he could be found watching old westerns or WWE on television. His love for frying fish, reunions, and crawfish boils will always be remembered and cherished by his whole neighborhood. His love for his wife, Carroll Reed Teal, and the way he cared for her until her death, and how he would drive displaced people to Louisiana and north Texas, during the numerous hurricanes was reinforced through his favorite song, “I’m a Simple Man” by Ricky Van Shelton.
Butch is preceded in death by his parents Raymond and Eula Teal; wife, Carroll Reed Teal; siblings, Ginger, Mary, Ann, and Leo.
Those left to cherish Butch’s memory are children born to his heart: Leighia Barron and husband Richard, Bubba Lanning and wife Mary Lou, and Rebecca Owens; grandchildren: Kendall Barron, Nick Lanning, Kristen Sladaritz, Jarrod Owens, Micah Owens, and Jay Sharpe; great-grandchildren: Elvin Barron, Milam Lanning, Isabel Sladaritz, Camden Sladaritz, London Owens and his devoted dog, Sidekick. He is also survived by his siblings, Carroll and Beverly.
Butch will be deeply missed and forever cherished by all that knew him.
