Once again the Orangefield Bobcats waited until the second half to put their fans on the edge of their seats with a comeback attempt, but this time it fell short as Coldspring ended the Bobcats playoff run 75-58.
The Trojans were as good as their record indicated (35-2) as they forced one turnover after another with their defense and owned the offensive board on the few times they missed the first shot.
Down by more than 20 most of the third quarter OF went on a run to start the fourth and cut the lead to 12, but the Trojans pulled away thanks to a 31 point performance by Jacoby Bishop.
It was another big performance by Valentin Catt who had 15 points, 12 boards and 12 blocked shots. Coy Bryant also hit five 3’s for 15 points.
Cade Prejean added 10, Kaiden Dubose finished with 8, Tyrone Waggoner 6, Bryce Bergeron 3, Kyle Pickard 1.
It was a great season the Bobcats who finish 29-9. Of the 16 teams left in the 3A playoffs, OF was one of only three teams still in it that wasn’t a district champion.
It was also a great turnout by the Bobcat fans, who outnumbered their opponent 4 to 1 in the gym at Barbers Hill.
