On Friday, April 17, 2026, at approximately 4:40 p.m., deputies with the Newton County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a residence on County Road 4190 in Deweyville in reference to an assault.
Upon arrival, deputies made contact with the victim, who had sustained a stab wound to the arm from an ice pick. The incident stemmed from an argument between the victim and the suspect.
The suspect was not on scene upon deputies’ arrival and is believed to have fled the area.
At approximately 10:00 p.m., the Orange Police Department located the female suspect, Misty Nicole Sparks. Officers placed Sparks under arrest and transported her to the Orange County Jail.
