Travis (Tim) Marion Faulkner was born on January 3, 1943, to Travis and Katheryn Faulkner. He went to be with his loving Lord and Savior in the early morning of June 21, 2023, at his home in Whitehouse Texas.
Tim grew up in Tyler, Texas, and attended John Tyler High School where he graduated in 1960, then went on to Lamar State School of Technology earning a bachelor’s degree in education. He then attended McNeese State University in Lake Charles, Louisiana earning a master’s degree in administration.
Tim is survived by his wife Ann, son Michael, son Lance (wife Kim) and daughter Dawn Worley (husband Patrick). He has 4 grandchildren: Alex, Logan, Liam, and Presley Faulkner. Also, surviving Tim is his cherished brother Barret Faulkner (wife Charm) and Cousin Howard Dickerson (wife Carletta).
Tim began his teaching career at Austin Jr High School, then spent a year at French High School – both in Beaumont, Texas. The duration of his career was at Groves Middle School in Port Neches, Texas, where he had a significant impact on the lives of two generations. Many of those students and their parents remember the sports life lessons learned in the gymnasium and football field.
Tim was an avid fisherman – he loved to fish Sam Rayburn Lake until gas prices went up, where he then had to switch to salt-water fishing in Sabine Lake… He found camaraderie not only coaching, but also in the time he spent with his colleagues on offshore excursions.
Loving to shoot pistols, Tim was a member of the Golden Triangle Gun Club. Tim also saw the rise in bullet prices, so he learned how to reload his own ammunition.
Although Tim was mindful of sporting costs, he was very financially charitable. He gave to individual people, and organizations, but always wanted to keep those donations anonymous.
Tim was a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Groves Texas and then upon retirement became a member of Green Acres Baptist Church in Tyler. In the same spirit of giving, Tim sought out widows and elderly who needed a helping hand with their house or property– cleaning up their acreage, mowing grass, cutting trees and any other small jobs they might need.
In their retirement years, Tim and Ann took many RV trips to the Northwest with their beloved pets. No one was a stranger to Tim, and he made many lifetime friends. His memory will be cherished by his family, friends, and hundreds of beloved students.
