Cori Leanne Norwood, 55, of Orange, Texas, passed away peacefully on September 12, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 19, 2026, at Grace Point At Eagle Heights Church in Orange, Texas. Officiating will be Reverend Kevin Inman. The family kindly asks everyone to dress casually and wear your favorite Christian, Disney, or Michael Jackson T-shirt in honor of Cori. We invite you to celebrate her life by wearing something that reflects the joy, faith, and memories she held dear.
Cori was a woman with a one-of-a-kind personality that left an impression on everyone fortunate enough to meet her. She had a way of making herself known and remembered, and her presence brought something uniquely her own to the lives of those around her.
For 32 years, Cori shared life, love, and countless adventures with her husband and the love of her life, Brent Norwood. Together, they built a life filled with love, family, laughter, and memories that will be treasured forever.
Above all else, Cori was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and a deeply cherished “Grammie.” She is survived by her daughters, Bayleigh Chesson and husband, Colby, and Korri Ayers and husband, Nicholas; and her sons, Christian Norwood, and Gavin Norwood and wife, Thariza. Her greatest joys were her children and her four grandchildren, Ginger, Beaux, Olive, and Neil, whom she lovingly called her “Coots.” Few things made her happier than having all of her Coots together for spend-the-nights at Grammie and Pop Pop’s house, creating the kind of memories they will carry with them for the rest of their lives.
She is also survived by her parents, Joette and Dennis Jeanise; her brother, Harley Jeanise and wife, Erica; her brother-in-law, John Salazar; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Cori was deeply rooted in her faith in Jesus Christ. Her relationship with the Lord was at the heart of who she was, and she treasured her church family at Grace Point at Eagle Heights. Having experienced redemption in her own life, Cori was passionate about addiction ministry and used her story as a redeemed addict to encourage and help others find hope, healing, and a path toward freedom.
She had a lifelong love for all things Disney, a weakness for a good sweet treat, and was rarely far from a good cup of coffee. But more than anything, Cori loved her people. Her husband, her children, her grandchildren, her family, her friends, and the people whose lives she touched through her faith and ministry were the things that mattered most to her.
Cori was preceded in death by her sister, Heather Salazar, and leaves behind her husband, children, grandchildren, parents, siblings, extended family, and many beloved nieces and nephews, along with countless friends whose lives were forever changed by knowing her.
She will be profoundly missed, but the love she gave, the faith she lived, the lives she touched, and the memories she created will remain with her family and friends always.
Cremation will be held under the direction of Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
