OCESD #4 Firefighter Clay Autery was recognized by his department for pulling someone out of a burning building. Turns out it was one of his own.
On July 5th, Autery relied on his training, stayed focused, and took action to help remove a fellow firefighter from a burning structure.
Chief Kelly Moore said, “There are things we train for that we hope we never have to do—like pulling someone from a burning building, especially when that person is one of our own. We train hard because when things go wrong, there may not be time to think about what to do next. Training builds the skills, confidence, and instincts needed to act when seconds matter. Clay, we are proud of you and the way you put your training into action when it mattered most. This is why we train. This is what brotherhood in the fire service is all about.”
