The Celebration of Life for Mrs. Stella Bennett, 94, of Orange, will be Friday, April 29,2022 at 11am at St. James Missionary Baptist Church.
Rites of Christian Entombment will follow at Magnolia Memorial Gardens under the direction of Sparrow Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 10 until 11am.
Stella Jackson Bennett was born August 25, 1927, the only child of Carrie Scott and Roosevelt Jackson in Clayton Louisiana.
Mrs. Bennett accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and was baptized in Clayton, Louisiana.
She attended school and graduated with honors from Sevier High School on May 6, 1946, in Ferriday, Louisiana.
She married her childhood sweetheart, Robert Bennett Jr. on July 6, 1947, after he returned from serving in the United States Navy.
Mrs. Bennett was a devoted member of the St. James Baptist Church where her husband Rev. Robert Bennett Jr. was pastor until his death. She was the Mother of the Church, served as a member of the Choir, Mission, and a Sunday School Teacher.
Mrs. Bennett was a kind, loving, and devoted wife and mother. She was well known in the community as a Christian woman of God and was loved by all who knew her.
She leaves to cherish her memory her daughters, Cathryn Elaine Bennett Cline (Floyd), Beverly Jean Bennett Minard (Joseph), Delores Bennett Eddings (Ronald), Cherrie Ann Bennett McGlory and Ellen Rose Bennett McClelland. Daughter Barbara Carol Bennett Hinson (Minister John, Sr.) preceded her in death. 13 grandchildren, they are Carrie Black, (Jasper), Floyd Cline II (Timeka), Harvey Cline (Yasmin), Cregg Hinson (Angela), John Hinson Jr, Kelvin Hinson (Lorenza), Robert Minard (Sunny), Stephanie Minard, Latoya Crosbie (Jeremey) Cory McGlory (Larea), Stelleshia Mitchell (Shawn), Terrell McClelland Jr. (Shonkevia), Jasalyn McClelland, and 18 great grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Joyce Pierson and one brother, Carey Jackson, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, friends, and church members.
